For those of you wanting to understand more the history of Americorps

Part of our orientation was going through the history of the National Service Organization, how the PeaceCorps was established and why AmeriCorps was established.. All of it is semi confusing and legalistic, but basically we were founded to be the Domesticated PeaceCorps. http://www.nationalservice.gov/about/role_impact/history_timeline.asp
In the case of a natural disaster, or national crisis we have the choice to leave our designated sites of service and be sent to help. Its all really confusing and legalistic. But basically as apart of the corps, we're trained in disaster preparedness etc etc incase the possibility of a need for us to be sent else where arises.
